Middle School Curriculum Topic
In Key Stage 2, a termly topic cycle is used to provide a context to learning across curriculum areas and engage the pupils.
Pupils develop skills in core curriculum areas (My Communication, Language and Literacy, My Numeracy, and My Wider Skills) through discrete lessons and personalised opportunities embedded throughout the week. Our enrichment curriculum area (My World) covers cross-curricular learning linked to the termly topic.
Middle School Curriculum Topic Grid
Middle School students who are Year 7 and up will be following the KS3/KS4 curriculum. These students follow an ASDAN curriculum which focuses on skills, contextualised learning and community involvement, to ensure students are prepared for life beyond school. We have selected certifications and accreditations that recognise achievements in a way that is meaningful within the context of the needs of the students, which include:
- ASDAN Life Skills Challenge Certification
- Duke of Edinburgh Bronze/Silver Awards
The curriculum follows a 5 year rotation of topics which includes focus areas within the core modules as well as optional modules. Our optional modules form part of each student’s Learning Pathway and are selected based on their on their interests and skills.
