As a UNICEF Rights Respecting School, we really value pupil voice. Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child states that 'Every child has the right to say what they think in all matters affecting them, and to have their views taken seriously.'
The Primary School Council are very much involved in the life of the school and this is reflected in our School Council Meetings and in the overall decision making process. Recent topics that the school council have been involved with have been: the redesign of the school playground, the purchase of new play equipment and the promotion of recycling throughout the school.
This year, the focus of the Primary School Council will be concerning Article 24, the right to be healthy and for school to be a clean environment.
